Richard is co-founder of Oxx alongside Mikael. Richard has been investing in software companies for more than 20 years. He has deep expertise in scaling and internationalizing B2B SaaS companies, and has been investing in SaaS since before it was called SaaS. Richard is a venture capital veteran and former Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association.
Prior to co-founding Oxx, Richard spent 18 years at Amadeus Capital, where he focused on B2B software investments in companies originating from the UK and Israel. Richard and Mikael worked closely together at Amadeus Capital for four years, before spinning out and founding Oxx as a focused B2B SaaS venture capital firm. Richard and Mikael founded Oxx out of their shared belief in the importance of specialist expertise and people-first values, and commitment to being the best venture partner for SaaS scale-ups building category leaders.
Richard is also personally committed to improving diversity, equality and inclusion in the venture capital industry and holds the role of Diversity Champion at Oxx. Richard has worked closely with Diversity VC across many projects, including as a Future VC mentor and masterclass teacher. Under Richard’s guidance, Oxx was also one of the first ten VCs to pilot the Diversity VC Standard, now accepted as one of the leading global standards for DE&I in VC.
Prior to his 18 years at Amadeus Capital, Richard was in the TMT team at Apax Partners. In his early career Richard worked as a management consultant and a hands-on finance and business development executive, at software company Autonomy. Richard has extensive experience investing in cybersecurity, with past investments including Forescout (IoT security, Nasdaq: FSCT and later acquired by Advent International), Clearswift (email/web security, acquired by Lyceum and now owned by HelpSystems) and Secerno (database security, acquired by Oracle).. Other past investments include Clicktale (digital experience analytics, acquired by Contentsquare) and Unruly (adtech, acquired by News Corp and now owned by Tremor International), whose co-founder Scott Button is now Advisor to and investor in Oxx I.
Richard is also a past Chairman of the Tel Aviv University Trust. He has an MBA from INSEAD and a BA and MA in Mathematics from Cambridge University.
