Toby Lywood

Toby joined Oxx in 2019 and is an Investment Professional based in London. His genuine passion for supporting founders has led him to mentor earlier stage startups, particularly in professionalising their metrics dashboard and helping them reach Product-Market-Fit. Toby is particularly interested in advising Seed-stage founders from underrepresented backgrounds on how to achieve scale and get backing at Series A and beyond.

Toby’s deep understanding of financial services has led him to become an expert in financial infrastructure software. Toby also focuses on companies from undercapitalised regions, including UK companies based outside of London, and companies originating in the CEE region.

Prior to joining Oxx, Toby spent three years at EY in the Transaction Advisory Services TMT team in London, performing financial due diligence on a mix of buy-side, sell-side and IPO transactions. Notable deals include sell-side diligence on one of the largest fintech companies in the world, buy-side due diligence on the Series D of WorldRemit, and IPO preparation for one of the largest telco companies in the UK. He also has operator experience, previously directing marketing and product development at Cayova, a privacy-focused social media platform startup; and leading commercial research and operations at Origin Life Sciences.

Toby has a BA (Hons) in History from Trinity College Dublin and is qualified as a Chartered Accountant by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
